Product Overview

BC-5R Overview

The BC-5R is a multifunction Data Recorder, designed to record data in five categories. The BC-5R is encased in a 3.80″ x 2.64″ x 1.6″ gold-plated enclosure. The BC-5R can be mounted under the instrument panel or in an equipment bay. It comes equipped with a USB cable and data stick for accessing stored data.

Time Stamps:

The BC-5R incorporates an internal clock that is used to Time Stamp each row of data as it is recorded.

Event Lines:

The BC-5R is capable of monitoring up to three Event Lines. These Event Lines are normally used to mark data for flight testing.

Bus Voltage:

The BC-5R monitors and records bus voltage to the instrument.

Engine and Aircraft Data Recording (Channels 1–7):

The first seven channels of the BC-5R are configured to interface with Electronics International’s (E.I.’s) engine/aircraft instruments.

GPS Information (Channel 8):

The eighth channel of the BC-5R can be used to monitor GPS data. This is normally Moving Map, Aviation or NMEA data. The data records are Next Waypoint Name, Latitude, Longitude, Ground Speed, Altitude and Track. If this channel is not used to monitor GPS, it can be configured to monitor an additional E.I. instrument.

BC-5R VSI Indicator

Visual Status Indicator (VSI):

The Data Recorder is equipped with a multi-color LED designed to display the system’s operational status through various colors.

Electronics International is an exceptional company with exceptional products… Oregon company, great products and great people.

Eric O. from Oregon
Cessna 150F

Nice Instrument, all the electrical information I need in one place. [I chose EI for its] performance and price.

David C. from the United Kingdom
Scottish Aviation Bulldog

Very accurate readings! The “analog” style LED arc means at-a-glance tach readings that allow the pilot to keep his attention where it matters, not reading a gauge. The digital readout is great for maintenance checks and mag drop tests.

David K. from New Mexico
Cessna T20N Turbo Centurion II

People [at EI] were great to work with.

Andrew & Carri Ann M. from Alaska
Piper PA-18-150 Super Cub

Great product. So easy to read compared to the originals.

Don M. From Texas
Cessna 182Q Skylane

This is a high quality instrument and works perfectly. Well designed, well constructed and well documented. I couldn’t be more pleased!

Karl P. from Maine
Stinson 108-1

Simple and Easy.

Aaron H. from Washington
Cessna 140

I was able to try out the CGR-30P in a flight school plane. I was very impressed with the ease of use, visual quality, and information provided on the main screen… I feel it will pay for itself in fuel savings, and extended engine time before overhaul.

David M. From South Carolina
Cessna 182J Skylane

I have seen your products in other aircraft and have seen their reliability.

Juan P. from British Columbia, Canada
Cessna 172M Skyhawk

You folks do a great job. Keep up the good work.

Kevin D. from Missouri
Cessna 172 Skyhawk

While the installation is not quite done yet, I have seen the unit in my aircraft with the engine running and the monitor producing numbers. It looks very good and I cannot wait to go flying with it!

Jeffrey S. From Missouri
Cessna 170N

Installed digital volt/amp gauge in PA 28-181. Great unit easy to install. Much better than original.
